Dr. Murphy completed a psychiatry residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiactric Institute in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Murphy received her medical degree from U.C. San Diego and a Masters in Public Health from UCLA, with a specialty in maternal and child health. She received a bachelor degree from U.C. Berkeley.
Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Murphy served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nigeria. As a volunteer, she assisted local health agencies in collecting data on maternal health outcomes in northern Nigeria. She has also worked with Save the Children in Bolivia, on a program to improve women’s health by training midwives to provide improved services to pregnant and postpartum women and their children.
